SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., January 22, 2026 — openIDL, an open source project under the Linux Foundation dedicated to modernizing and standardizing insurance data, recently welcomed Perr&Knight as the newest member of its growing ecosystem. As one of the insurance industry’s leading actuarial consulting and technology firms, Perr&Knight offers extensive experience across key areas such as data management, regulatory reporting, actuarial services, and product development.
“We’re excited to join openIDL and contribute to the important work happening through the openIDS initiative,” said Darren Totten, Director of Data Solutions, PK1Cloud at Perr&Knight. “Data consistency and clarity are at the heart of effective insurance operations. By collaborating with openIDL, we can help establish standards that make data exchange smoother for carriers, regulators, and service providers alike.”
openIDS, an initiative under openIDL, is designed to improve regulatory reporting, streamline data exchange, and accelerate innovation. openIDS provides a common framework that enables insurers, regulators, and partners to share information efficiently and securely. This collaborative effort brings together carriers, regulators, data partners, and technology leaders to define shared data models that improve insurance reporting, analytics, and compliance — while allowing stakeholders to determine the technology used to transfer the data.
In November 2025, the openIDS Homeowners Standard v.1.0, which establishes a unified, interoperable framework to reduce reporting friction, improve regulatory compliance, and accelerate innovation across the insurance ecosystem. The openIDS Homeowners Standard v.1.0 is now available for industry adoption – view details at www.openIDL.org.
“With the release of the openIDS Homeowners Standard v1.0, we are setting a foundation for a more interoperable insurance data ecosystem—one that reduces reporting friction, improves regulatory outcomes, and accelerates innovation,” said Totten.
Perr&Knight joins AAIS, Cloverleaf Analytics and reThought Flood as openIDL members collaborating together to standardize insurance data.
“Perr&Knight’s experience supporting more efficient data exchange between carriers and regulators will be instrumental as we extend openIDL standards to additional industry use cases,” said Daniela Barbosa, General Manager of Decentralized Technologies at the Linux Foundation. “Their engagement in the project will help drive greater collaboration across the ecosystem while accelerating industry-wide adoption and implementation.”

About openIDL
The open Insurance Data Link (openIDL) is a Linux Foundation project advancing the open Insurance Data Standards (openIDS) initiative. Through open governance and collaboration, openIDL brings carriers, regulators, and technology partners together to define and publish industry-wide data standards. These standards form a common language for insurance data, enabling consistent regulatory reporting, greater transparency, and a foundation for innovation. By aligning the industry around open-source principles, openIDL is building a sustainable framework of dynamic, extensible standards that will evolve with the needs of the entire industry ecosystem.
