A Message from Our CEO: AI at Perr&Knight, featuring Tim Perr, Managing Principal and Chief Executive Officer

At Perr&Knight, our position on artificial intelligence is straightforward: we intend to take full advantage of what AI can do for our clients, but within clear boundaries around security, governance, transparency and professional judgment.

Those boundaries come first.

PKโ€™s approach to AI is designed to comply with the NAIC Model Bulletin on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Systems by Insurers and applicable state-specific AI laws, regulations and regulatory guidance. As these requirements continue to evolve, so will our practices.

We have established an internal AI use policy governing how our consultants use AI, including requirements related to data security, confidentiality, appropriate use and human oversight. That policy is not static. We regularly update it as AI capabilities advance, new risks emerge and regulatory expectations develop.

Within those guardrails, AI usage at PK is growing rapidly, and the results are significant.

Across a growing number of consulting activities, we are seeing meaningful improvements in both task speed and project quality.

But efficiency is only part of the story.

AI also allows us to expand the breadth and depth of our work. Analyses that historically might have been constrained by the time and cost required to perform them can now incorporate substantially more detail. That can mean affordably evaluating more alternatives, conducting more comparisons, reviewing larger bodies of information and producing more comprehensive supporting documentation.

Importantly, at PK, AI does not replace professional responsibility. When AI is used within a consulting engagement, that usage is disclosed, and the resulting work is reviewed by our consultants. AI is a tool; our professionals remain accountable for the work product.

We are also taking what we learn internally and bringing that experience to our clients. Through our Applied AI Consulting practice, clients are increasingly engaging PK to help develop AI adoption strategies, identify high-value use cases, establish appropriate governance and incorporate AI into their own workflows.

At the same time, we are partnering with AI solution providers such as Pythia, giving our consultants and clients access to their specialized tools that complement PKโ€™s insurance expertise.

Looking toward 2027, we expect AI to become an increasingly regular and standardized component of PK workflows, always consistent with each clientโ€™s own policies and preferences regarding AI use.

At PK, we are unequivocally optimistic about where AIโ€™s use in insurance is heading: greater accuracy, deeper analysis, faster execution and more value for our clients.
