Les Vernon, FCAS, MAAA   |  Consulting Actuary

Leslie (Les) Vernon is a Consulting Actuary with Perr&Knight in our Irvine, California office. Les has extensive ratemaking experience on a wide range of personal and commercial lines products and has completed rate level and rating plan filings in most states. His personal lines ratemaking experience includes private passenger auto, motorcycle, homeowners, and farmowners. His commercial lines ratemaking experience includes workers compensation, general liability, products liability, medical malpractice, property, inland marine, ocean marine, and surety. Les has performed loss and loss adjustment expense reserve analyses for several insurance companies covering most commercial and personal insurance lines. In addition, he has provided a wide range of actuarial services to self-insured private and public entities that include loss reserving for captives and self-insurers, funding studies, feasibility studies and retention analysis. His commercial lines reserving experience covers workers compensation, general liability, products liability, medical malpractice, property, and ocean marine, both foreign and domestic.

Since beginning his actuarial career in 1991, Les has gained many years of experience from a variety of perspectives in property & casualty insurance. Prior to joining Perr&Knight, Les worked for Allianz, Nationwide, NCCI and Arrowhead General Insurance Agency.

Les graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and earned a Master of Science degree in Statistics from the University of California Irvine. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member in the American Academy of Actuaries. He has served on the Committee on Online Services and the Exam Committee of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
